Χαίρε και πίει εύ: Drink and be joyous

Cyprus has the longest history in the world of wine making. It dates back to Ancient Greek times.

The main wine making province is that of Limassol. All the major winemakers are based there as well as many small wineries in the mountains of Troodos.

There is also a Wine Festival in the public garden/zoo in Limassol that usually starts in Septermber and goes on for fifteen days. You pay an entrance fee and then can drink all the wine you want for free. Although the free wine is far from good you can buy reputable wine from one of the many winery kiosks. In the wine festival you can find many cypriot specialities.

In Greek: Μπύρα "Mpira" - Beer

There are several local beers. Namely "KEO", "ΛΕΩΝ" ("Leon" which means leo) and "5".

You should definetely try KEO Beer. It is a high quality lager beer with a long tradition on the island. It is a tasty and refreshing brew. Highly recommended if you are having lunch after bathing in the sea at one of the many seaside restaruants. In most places you can also order a large bottle which is a one liter bottle you can share.
